Progress through the summer of 2013

It's been a while since I've posted, but fear not, I have been taking lots of pictures of the process.

Here you see the attic of my garage, where I have boxes of parts including many of those I am collecting for the project.

One of the unique things I found out about the Canadian built PV544 was that it was equipped with a limited slip rear differential.  On the dash there is a decal, warning the user not to burn doughnuts with this car.
Since I am planning to repaint the dash panel along with all the other work on the car this decal will have to go, so what to do?? Internet to the rescue! there is a man named Dave Barton, who (I can only presume as a hobby) creates reproduction decals for vintage Volvos.  Yes, really.  Check out http://www.davebarton.com/.  So Dave, within about an hour of me sending him these photos, had a mock-up created, and now you too can purchase a reproduction of this decal on his website.  Fantastic!
By Mid July, I had sent all the removable panels (fenders, doors, hood, trunk lid etc.) out for blasting and was eagerly awaiting their return to get going on body work.  In the meantime many of the suspension, steering and other parts were degreased and blasted and ready for a coat of satin chassis black paint. Here are some shots of that process including my home built painting "enclosure".

Successful so far, but this is still only a fraction of the parts that need this treatment.
